Sporting Lisbon B team sub Budag Nasirov concedes penalty off pitch
There were puzzling scenes during a recent game involving Sporting Lisbon's B team when one of their substitutes managed to concede a penalty without being on the pitch.
The unlucky stooge was midfielder Budag Nasirov, who was penalised for handling a loose ball while warming up behind the Sporting goal.
Unfortunately for Nasirov, the referee deemed that the ball hadn't gone fully out of play by the time the 20-year-old touched it, which led to a spot-kick being awarded against him.
Just to add insult to injury, Nasirov was cautioned by the match official for intervening in play.
Sporting's opponents, Academica, then went on to successfully dispatch the resulting penalty before going on to win the game 2-1.
