Brazilian referee channels Paul Alcock in Luis Fabiano sending off
Luis Fabiano was on the wrong end of an odd red card this weekend, when the former Sevilla striker received his marching orders in the Campeonato Carioca.
Now playing for Vasco da Gama in his native Brazil, Fabiano was shown a second yellow card in the 54th minute of his side's 2-2 draw against Flamengo for "butting heads" with the referee.

Can't help but feel that the ref went down a little too easily there.
Indeed, football fans of a certain vintage might be instantly put in mind of referee Paul Alcock's career-defining tumble after taking a feather-light shove from Paolo Di Canio.
That said, quite why Fabiano thought thrusting his head anywhere near the official's face was a good idea while already carrying a booking is anybody's guess.
