Ball bursts in France-Switzerland match, three Swiss jerseys ripped too
The Group A match between France and Switzerland was stopped for an unusual reason just after the start of the second half: The football burst.
With Antoine Griezmann breaking toward the Swiss goal, Valon Behrami came in to clear the ball away from the French striker, only for his boot to apparently puncture the ball and render it useless.
The ball wasn't the only problem during the match, as three Swiss players saw their jerseys tear after they were tugged or held by French defenders.
The tugs weren't of the vicious variety and looked fairly harmless -- certainly not enough to rip a top-flight football jersey -- but they set up a bit of a horror show for Switzerland's jersey sponsor, Puma.
Dimitri Payet might have given equipment managers in Lille another scare when he crashed a volley off the crossbar just moments after entering the match as a substitute. Certainly, there was a sigh of relief in some corners of the Grand Stade Lille Metropole when the posts stayed upright.
