U.S. Soccer pokes fun at Mexico on Twitter after Copa quarterfinals

The Copa America quarterfinals didn't disappoint in terms of drama and scorelines, as the U.S. edged Ecuador to set up a semifinal date with Argentina while Chile thrashed Mexico 7-0 and will face Colombia in the last four.

Notice anything about the four teams still in the competition? Three of them are from CONMEBOL, the continent that traditionally competes for the Copa America, leaving the tournament hosts as North America's only representatives. And of course, they couldn't wait to throw a little subtle shade at rivals El Tri as soon as Saturday night's rout in Santa Clara, California, was over.

While there's nothing wrong with the above statement -- it's factually accurate, after all! -- if you read between the lines, you can feel the gloating at Mexico's plight. It was something that others swiftly picked up on in USSF's mentions...

This, however, might be the sharpest reply of the bunch given that the U.S. have just over 48 hours to figure out how to stop Lionel Messi & Co, who thrashed Venezuela 4-1 on Saturday night...

Pretty much sums it up!
