Rafa Benitez's wife has cheeky dig at Jose Mourinho

Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho ... not the best of friends.

As one of the most entertaining rivalries in world football continues to bubble along, Rafa Benitez's wife has joked that her husband has spent his entire professional life clearing up the messes left behind by Jose Mourinho.

As well as Real Madrid, Benitez has also followed Mourinho into the managerial breach at both Chelsea and Inter Milan in the past.

"Real Madrid are the third of Jose Mourinho's old teams Rafa has coached," Montserrat Seara Benitez quipped in an interview with La Region newspaper.

"We tidy up his messes. If you think about it, of course you end up crossing paths. There are only a few world-class clubs out there."

Mrs. Benitez also revealed that her husband is completely obsessed by football, so much so in fact that he actually spent a portion of the couple's very first date talking her through the subtle strategic intricacies of various tactical formations.

"On our first date, Rafa explained to me what a 4-4-2 was. He finds it hard to stay away from the game," she continued.

"The year we spent at home (after Rafa was sacked by Inter in late 2010) he helped coach the local school team. It was hilarious. He stood on the sidelines and shouted at them as if they were first division players, waving his arms about.

"He doesn't see football as work, it's his passion."
