Crystal Palace make classic mistake with Frank/Ronald de Boer mix-up

Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer has reassured supporters his side will not be a stepping stone to bigger clubs.

To herald the arrival of their new manager, Crystal Palace shared a video that featured a succession of stats pertaining to Frank de Boer's illustrious playing career.

Unfortunately, the aforementioned tweet -- which invited Palace fans to "get to know Frank de Boer a little better" -- was chock full of pictures of the Dutchman's twin brother, Ronald.

Wanyama gets street in Tanzania named after him -- for one day

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama had a street named after him in Tanzania for one day.

Tottenham and Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama had a street in Tanzania named after him, but the honour was short lived after authorities removed the sign after just one day.

On Saturday, Wanyama -- who is on holiday in Tanzania, which borders Kenya -- was present at a ceremony to rename a street in his honour in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

But the following day, pictures emerged of the sign being taken away and a statement from the local Ubungo council said procedures to rename a street had not...

Guerrero flattens Fonseca with 'hadouken' in Brazil's top flight

Paolo Guerrero displayed some supernatural Street Fighter-esque wizardry in Sunday evening's feisty encounter between Flamengo and Bahia in the Brazilian top flight.

After being caught with a high foot from defender Lucas Fonseca, the veteran Peruvian striker reacted by sending his assailant flying to the floor with a powerful hadouken -- at least that's how it appeared on the television replays.

Both Guerrero and Fonseca were booked for their respective parts in the utterly ridiculous passage of...

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and dad join forces in Paris friendly

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took to the pitch in Paris on Sunday night but, before you go getting excited, we should probably mention it was only a friendly match.

The 28-year-old striker turned out for Paris FC in their annual postseason meeting with Gauchy Grugie Biette, during which he was joined up front by his father, Pierre Aubame.

The father/son axis certainly proved to be a successful partnership, with Aubameyang scoring six goals (and providing four assists) in a rather comprehensive 12-1...

Liverpool CEO Peter Moore wins fans over with Twitter jokes

Peter Moore may be new to his position as Liverpool's CEO, but his recent Twitter activity has won over some supporters already.

Moore began his role on Merseyside at the start of June, having left his position as chief competition officer at Electronic Arts. First up was his response when a supporter had urged Liverpool to spend big money to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

After Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah on Thursday, Moore then joked that Liverpool had used all of...

White smoke at jerk chicken shop signals new appointment at Palace

With Frank De Boer poised and ready to take the reins, Crystal Palace found an ingenious way to alert their Twitter followers to the imminent managerial appointment.

Indeed, the club borrowed heavily from the Vatican City by releasing plumes of white smoke into the air above Selhurst Park.

However, rather than the famous old chimney at the Papal conclave, the Eagles instead used the one at the Tasty Jerk takeaway, just around the corner from their stadium.

Impressive stuff, and certainly the most...
