Bayern Munich, Poland striker Robert Lewandowski uses pseudonym to keep low profile

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is adept at shaking off opposition defenders, but he has been forced to be more creative to escape the glare of his adoring fans.

The Poland captain, 29, has revealed he goes by the name "Emil" to avoid attention.

"It is pure coincidence and I don't use it that much, but it is helpful when we are with friends somewhere," he told the Guardian.

"For example, in a restaurant, we talk and laugh, but don't use 'Robert' or 'Lewy'. And in that situation, I'm Emil....

Brazil's Neymar has new World Cup hairdo compared to noodles on social media

Brazil kicked off their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday evening but the big point of discussion going into the game was the latest creation atop Neymar's head.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker debuted a stirring new look for his tournament debut, arriving in Moscow with a primped and preened new hairstyle to show unto everybody.

World Cup 2018 stars not in Panini album get own sticker art made by MIFA Project

Given that Panini launched their official World Cup sticker album in April, a certain amount of educated guesswork had to go into predicting each competing nations' 23-man squad weeks before the official announcements are made.

While the majority of the rosters are correct, there are always a few players who aren't included in the sticker book despite making it to the tournament -- Rafael Marquez (Mexico), Nabil Fekir (France) and Leander Dendoncker (Belgium) being just a few of the more prominent...

Mexican fans celebrate opening goal vs. Germany in Berlin

There wasn't much to celebrate in the first half at the German public watch party in Berlin... for most of the attendees that is.

Hirving Lozano's 35th-minute goal put Mexico ahead 1-0 and sucked the life out of the watch party minus one small section of brave and proud Mexico supporters.

The Mexican contingent was clearly outnumbered but did not hold back with their celebrations, jumping wildly and waving Mexican flags right in the center of the German masses.

Brave fans indeed.

They weren't...

Phoenix Rising's JJ Johnson scores overhead kick wonder goal

With player-owner Didier Drogba away at the World Cup on punditry duty, Phoenix Rising FC did their absent boss proud by thrashing Tulsa Roughnecks in the USL on Saturday evening.

The goal of the game came mere minutes before half-time when JJ Johnson put Phoenix 2-0 up with an absolute scorcher of an overhead kick.

In fact, the goal was so good that his club felt the need to pay homage to the Jamaican striker on social media.

Sensational technique!

Phoenix went on to register a convincing 3-0 win...

Peru commentator catches World Cup fever during anthem

Having waited 36 years to do so, Peru gave it everything when it came to bellowing out their national anthem ahead of their World Cup opener against Denmark.

The Mordovia Arena in Saransk echoed to the sound of the Himno Nacional as the Incas linked arms and seized the moment.

Alas, it all proved too much for one elated Peruvian fan in the stands as Latina television commentator Coki Gonzales suffered a bit of a head rush.

Gonzales was seen being instructed to take deep breaths and gulps of water...
