Gladbach's cabbage-patch pitch shocks Borussia Dortmund

Borussia-Park's pitch has seen better days.

Borussia Dortmund got more than they bargained for when they made the trip to take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday -- a pitch that was more suited to a cabbage patch or a farmer's field than football.

The surface at Gladbach's Borussia-Park home almost looked stitched together like some kind of home-made quilt.

Mario Gotze told Bild: "The first 20 minutes it was a bit like ice skating. That pitch was nearly as good as my backyard."

Dortmund's Twitter account put out a picture...

Wales earthquake causes delay in First Division game at Port Talbot

A Welsh First Division match at Port Talbot's Victoria Road ground was halted because of an earthquake.

Pitch invaders and the weather are common causes of play being held up, but in the Welsh League on Saturday, it was an earthquake.

Experts have said the quake -- which shook parts of the UK on Saturday -- was the biggest in a decade.

Port Talbot is 10 miles from Swansea and the tremors were felt as the town's football side faced Taff's Well.

Port Talbot went on to win 2-1, before enjoying comments from their fans, which included, "Shaken not stirred" and "Were your opponents quaking in their ...

Juventus' Federico Bernardeschi celebrates birthday with massive cake

There are birthday cakes, and then there are birthday cakes.

Federico Bernardeschi certainly found the right one when celebrating his 24th birthday on Friday, posing with a three-tiered, appropriately striped black-and-white cake -- one topped off by cupcakes, a pair of ceramic bulldogs and, naturally, a trio of fireworks.

"Happy birthday to me!" Bernardeschi wrote, preferring to let the cake speak for itself.

Happy birthday to me! #fedesbirthday #rockngoal 🎂🍾🤟🏻

Spurs' Harry Kane has doppelganger in chubby Teesside bin man

Wisdom says that everyone has a doppelganger somewhere in the world -- though Harry Kane doesn't have to look very far to find a slightly, erm, larger version of him.

Paul Foden, from Eston, in the northeast of England, has been embracing the comparisons for years, going so far as to refer to himself as "Chubby Harry Kane" on Twitter.

The 28-year-old bin man, a passionate Middlesbrough supporter, even bought a Kane shirt to wear when playing football with his mates.

"When he started popping up for...

Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez's Atom and Humber mark Chinese New Year

As the Chinese New Year starts, several football clubs marked the Year of the Dog by sharing their best wishes on social media.

Barcelona kicked things off by letting Lionel Messi do the honours.

Michael Owen shared a special message with everybody celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Bayern Munich wished their supporters "good health and happiness" in Chinese.

AC Milan went one step further and had their players deliver the message by actually attempting to speak Chinese (with mixed results).

Chelsea's Antonio Conte given Man United shirt as 'present from Mourinho'

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was presented with a Manchester United shirt by a prankster at a press conference claiming it was from Jose Mourinho.

LONDON -- Antonio Conte was the victim of a surreal prank in his Friday news conference when an Italian man posing as a journalist presented him with a Manchester United shirt "as a present from Jose Mourinho."

The man, believed to be Stefano Corti, co-presenter of Italia 1 satirical show Le Iene, got out of his chair and approached the front desk where Conte was sitting, requesting that the Chelsea head coach respond to a question in Italian relayed via his tablet.

It quickly became clear, however,...
