Nantwich Town and Altrincham match halted after egg invasion

Tuesday evening's Northern Premier League meeting between local rivals Nantwich Town and Altrincham was always going to be a tense and nervy affair.

Indeed, the Cheshire derby certainly lived up to its billing, lasting less than a quarter-of-an-hour before being stopped for the oddest of reasons.

The following live update emitted by Altrincham's official Twitter account in the 13th minute of the match tells you all you need to now.

The club then confirmed that the eggs were being hurled into Nantwich's...

Man United stars Pogba, Carrick, Lingard, Lindelof have graffiti fun

With no fixtures until the weekend, Manchester United kept themselves occupied with a little extra curricular fun at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

A unique collaboration 🎨 - @tagheuer and @alecmonopoly.

A post shared by Manchester United (@manchesterunited) on

The club staged an art exhibition alongside sponsors Tag Heuer that saw Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, Chris Smalling and Jese Lingard rub shoulders with graffiti artist Alec Monopoly as a series of new murals were unveiled at the Theatre of Dreams.

WWE star The Rock blown away by Adebayo Akinfenwa celebration

It's not often the worlds of WWE and League Two football collide, but they did so to devastating effect on Saturday afternoon.

Two goals from Adebayo Akinfenwa helped the Chairboys register a 3-2 victory over Port Vale, the second of which -- a 25th-minute diving header -- was celebrated with a routine lifted directly from The Rock's playbook.

After steering the ball home, Akinfenwa lived up to his reputation as the lower league's go-to muscle man by dropping The People's Elbow on teammate Luke...

Carragher posts Liverpool throwback pic with young Alexander-Arnold

Di Maria shows off the stars he's played with, Carragher shows Alexander-Arnold as a mascot and more in The Sweeper.
Hoffenheim scored a late goal to give them a puncher's chance against Liverpool heading to Anfield for the second leg.
Steve Nicol and the FC crew break down the positives and negatives of Liverpool's Champions League victory over Hoffenheim.

For Liverpool fans, the most pleasing thing about Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League qualifier win over Hoffenheim was the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 18-year-old had a superb game, and capped off his display with an excellent goal from a free kick to help the Merseysiders put one foot into the group stage.

No one was more proud of the young defender than Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

The former England international shared a picture on Twitter of himself and a 11-year-old Alexander-Arnold,...

Non-League Billericay Town's lion-theme dressing room

Billericay Town are causing quite the stir down in the seventh tier of English football, chiefly because owner Glenn Tamplin is wildly outspending his rivals in an effort to launch the club up into the Football League.

Tamplin, who serves as Billericay's owner and manager, has brought in a raft of ex-Premier League players on comparatively huge wages to compete in a semi-professional league where most other teams consist of players with regular 9-5 jobs.

He also possesses a very brash, abrasive style...

Tiger named after Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac

A tiger has been named after a Tigre.

French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has been bestowed with the rare honour of having a newborn tiger named in his honour at a zoo in Mexico.

La Pastora zoo in Monterrey conducted a vote among 3,000 local schoolchildren to decide on a name for their new Bengal tiger and Gignac, who currently plays for the aptly named Tigres club, won by a landslide.

According to zoo director Edgar Acosta, the young cub is "very docile" which is in stark contrast to his footballing namesake, who recently threatened...
