On-loan Liverpool striker Divock Origi's horror miss for Wolfsburg vs. Leipzig

Liverpool loanee Divock Origi provides miss of the season contender for Wolfsburg.

Divock Origi managed to produce a rock solid contender in the Miss of the Season award stakes as Wolfsburg hammered out a 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Tuesday evening.

With the scoreline level and little over 10 minutes remaining, Origi was presented with a proverbial Christmas gift directly in front of an open goal.

However, the 22-year-old Liverpool loanee squandered the chance and in spectacular style, somehow sending his shot over the crossbar from three yards out.

After tumbling...

Toni Kroos names Paul Scholes as England's best ever midfielder

Since the mid-2000s, football fans have argued vehemently over who is the finest English central midfielder to have ever graced the Premier League.

The squabble usually boils down to just three names: Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, Chelsea's Frank Lampard or Manchester United's Paul Scholes, with ultimate preference generally being dictated by club allegiance.

However, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos -- a pretty handy player himself -- has now waded into the debate by offering forth his considerable...

Argentina legend Diego Maradona not quite captured in dodgy statue

With Cristiano Ronaldo's bronze bust and Wayne Rooney's particularly unflattering courtroom sketch, 2017 has proved to be a vintage year for questionable portraits of well-known footballers.

However, with just a few weeks of the year left, another brilliantly dodgy likeness has been added to the pantheon after a sculptural tribute to the great Diego Maradona was unveiled in Kolkata, India, on Monday.

The 12-foot statue is supposed to depict the young Maradona hoisting the 1986 World...

Ostersunds mock Wenger coat woes after Europa League draw

In the wake of the draw for the Europa League Round of 32, Arsenal took the time to get in touch with their next opponents, Ostersunds, via social media.

Indeed, the Gunners gave Ostersunds a prod on Twitter after the draw was conducted, informing the Swedish minnows, perhaps a little ominously, that they would "see them soon."

However, Ostersunds, whose manger Graham Potter is the only English coach left in European competition this season, proved their mettle by snapping back at the Premier League...

Brazil and Barcelona icon Ronaldinho scores from inside his own half

Despite being a few months short of his 38th birthday, Ronaldinho is still yet to officially retire from professional football.

That said, it's been quite a while since the Brazilian legend turned out in a competitive fixture, instead passing the time by taking part in exhibition matches and futsal tournaments around the world.

Indeed, Sunday afternoon saw him rock up for a benefit game in Sao Paulo and the ex-Barcelona veteran promptly delighted the crowd by walloping one in from inside his own...

Victor Wanyama's fans take to streets as Tottenham midfielder plots comeback

Victor Wanyama's supporters are so eager to see the injured Kenyan return to the pitch, they took to the streets ahead of Tottenham's 5-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

Members of the Tottenham fan club in Machakos -- a small town southwest of Kenya's capital Nairobi -- staged what one local news website described as a "peaceful procession" to wish Wanyama well.

Wanyama's supporters marched through the streets, clad in replica Spurs kits and t-shirts embossed with the image of the national team captain....
