Transfer Rater: Atakan Akkaynak to Barcelona, Griezmann to Man United

The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Atakan Akkaynak to Barcelona

Barcelona are now leading the race to sign highly-rated Germany youth international Akkaynak from Bayer Leverkusen. The 18-year-old midfielder has been linked with Chelsea and Roma, and has attracted interest from scouts across Europe. The Daily Express are reporting that Barcelona have been monitoring the player for over a year and remain favourites to sign him despite Chelsea's increased interest.

Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United

The No. 7 shirt remains vacant at Manchester United, and the Daily Star report that Jose Mourinho's side want Griezmann to wear it next season. His current club, Atletico Madrid, have been subject to a transfer ban, but this expires in January when they will be able to sign a replacement for the forward, thought to be Chelsea's Diego Costa, leaving Griezmann free to leave next summer.

Maikel Kieftenbeld to Derby County

While Kieftenbeld's move to Derby from Birmingham City fell through in the final hours of transfer deadline day, the Rams are likely to renew their interest in the player in January. "I think we will have to revisit the deal from a moral perspective and also from a perspective that the player would have given us something different," Derby manager Gary Rowett told the Birmingham Mail.

Raheem Sterling to Arsenal

The swap deal involving Sterling and Alexis Sanchez failed to materialise this summer, but despite the breakdown of this particular arrangement, Arsenal remain interested in signing the English winger regardless of any player exchange. The Daily Mail report that Sterling is open to any deal and would like a return to London where he believes he would get more regular first-team football.

Aaron Lennon to Burnley

Burnley will revive their interest in Lennon in January after failing to land the former Tottenham Hotspur player on loan this summer. The Daily Mail reported that the player was open to a move in August, but Everton wanted to keep hold of him due to their hectic schedule which includes Europa League games. Should Everton's situation change, then Burnley will be back in for the player who will no doubt want to play more regularly.
