Christian Benteke may miss Belgium qualifier with thigh injury

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke could miss Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifier with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday after suffering a thigh injury.

Belgium boss Marc Wilmots said Benteke would have to prove he was fully fit in Wednesday's training session or he would not be considered for the Group B clash in Brussels the following day.

"The medical team will see how the injury develops," Wilmots said. "If on Wednesday he doesn't train because he feels some discomfort again, he won't play on Thursday. I only play people who are fully fit. There are enough replacements."

Should Benteke miss the match, he would hope to return for the trip to Cyprus on Sept. 6.

Wilmots also said Tottenham's Mousa Dembele would have to undergo tests on an ankle injury, while Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini would receive a small fine after missing his flight from England due to traffic.

Belgium are currently second, behind Wales, in Group B with 11 points from their opening six games.
