Bayern's Coman fit to face Liverpool in Champions League despite injury scare

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman will be fit to face Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday despite suffering an injury in the 3-2 win over Augsburg on Friday, the club have said.

France international Coman scored as Bayern won 3-2 but turned his left ankle, on which he had previously had surgery, in the closing moments.

At his postmatch news conference, coach Niko Kovac said the situation "does not look good," but Bayern said on Saturday that the winger would be ready to play at Anfield next week.

The Bundesliga champions wrote on Twitter: "Good news! The doctors have given Kingsley Coman the all-clear to face @LFC on Tuesday."

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer returned on Friday after an injury absence and warned his teammates that they would have to defend better at Anfield.

"We want to keep a clean sheet again," he said. "Liverpool are an attacking team, and we have to be better positioned against them."
