Bayern Munich 'don't have much time, we need success' Arjen Robben warns Niko Kovac

Arjen Robben has said Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac is a "winner type" but warned that the Bundesliga champions have no time to lose in turning around their poor run of form.

Bayern have dropped to sixth after picking up only one point from their last three league matches, and trail leaders Borussia Dortmund by four points.

Kovac, who took over from Jupp Heynckes in the summer, has been backed by Bayern president Uli Hoeness, who said he would defend the former Frankfurt boss "to the blood."

And Robben, 34, told kicker that a turnaround must be achieved within the next few games.

"He is ambitious and a winner type," he said of Kovac. "He is now looking for ways that we play better football once again. We need to go on a winning run.

"We don't have much time. We need success. If we win the next three, four games, the critics will be silenced, and everything will be fine looking from the outside."

Bayern have won the last six Bundesliga titles, and Robben said he would be interested to see whether RB Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach, Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin -- all currently ahead of them -- could sustain challenges.

"Dortmund are a big opponent," he said. "We must see how long the other clubs can keep up with the pace.

"A few years ago, it was said that everything's boring with Bayern, and if we led the league by five points now, boredom would be the talk of town.

"That's football in a nutshell -- black and white. We must stop thinking in extremes. There are many shades in between."
