'Weak Real Madrid' could have lost 5-2 to Bayern Munich - Niklas Sule

Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule said he had rarely seen "a weaker Real Madrid" after his side were beaten 2-1 by the Champions League holders in the semifinal first leg in Germany.

A frustrated Sule said Bundesliga champions Bayern had failed to take their chances and should have won against Zinedine Zidane's side after Joshua Kimmich had given them the lead.

"Nobody could have complained had we won this match 5-2," he told reporters. "I believe that I have rarely seen such a weak Real Madrid in Munich."

Captain Thomas Muller echoed Sule's comments, saying Bayern had lacked a "killer mentality" and were "too naive."

Kimmich said Madrid had mustered only an occasional threat -- but that was enough to give them two away goals ahead of the second leg at the Bernabeu.

"We did not convert our chances, and Real Madrid shot at goal twice," he added.

"Real were dangerous only twice, while we shot at goal eight or nine times. We didn't have as many chances against Hannover [a 3-0 win in the Bundesliga]."

Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos told ZDF his side had produced "an average performance" but said: "In the end, we mastered the challenge."
