Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer: I'm running at 100 percent again

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is running "at 100 percent" for the first time since being injured against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season.

Neuer, 31, has recovered from a broken metatarsal suffered during the quarterfinal defeat at the Bernabeu.

After stepping up training, he told Bayern's official website: "It was a great day for me.

"Today I was able to run at 100 percent for the first time. It was an initial test, we focused on the little things and I came through them all well.

"Naturally, I'm hoping to return to the team as soon as possible."

Bayern open their Bundesliga season with a home game against Leverkusen on Aug. 18, and earlier this month Neuer said he expected to return for that game.

Understudy Sven Ulreich, who recently recovered from an elbow injury, deputised for Neuer in the Audi Cup defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.

Bayern also lost Thiago Alcantara, new signing James Rodriguez and David Alaba to what were described as muscle problems during the course of the game.

Meanwhile, coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng would sit out Wednesday's game against Napoli but expected both to be fit for the Super Cup game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
