Kingsley Coman: I thought about moving on from Bayern Munich

Kingsley Coman has said he thought about leaving Bayern Munich during an injury-hit second season and added he felt a lack of trust from Carlo Ancelotti.

Coman, 20, has already lifted five domestic league titles in three different countries, winning Ligue 1 twice with Paris Saint-Germain, the Serie A title at Juventus and the Bundesliga in back-to-back seasons at Bayern.

However, Coman, who initially joined Bayern in 2015 on a two-year loan deal from champions Juventus, found first-team appearances at Bayern this season harder to come by under Ancelotti.

The France international only started 11 games, scoring two goals and providing one assist, compared to 27 starts, with 12 assists and six goals, during an impressive debut campaign under former boss Pep Guardiola.

"It was a complicated year for me," Coman told kicker. "Injuries set me back a lot and after that perhaps the coach lacked a little bit of trust in me."

Despite struggling in his second season in Bavaria, the winger decided to make his two-year loan from Juventus permanent last month, amid reports Guardiola was interested in a reunion with him at Manchester City.

Before agreeing to sign permanently until 2020, Coman said he had sought assurances from Bayern's board about his future at the club.

"They gave me the feeling they have faith in me, both long-term and next season too. They said I should keep working hard and things would sort themselves out," he said.

Coman added that departing Bayern had crossed his mind.

"I thought about leaving the club," he said. "But the option to make the deal permanent was only possible with my agreement. They [Bayern] wouldn't have agreed to it if I was thinking about leaving.

"I came back into a team which was already functioning. Once the team has already found itself, it's difficult to get game time and regain a spot in the team -- even more so here with the strong competition for places."

However, Coman did manage to force his way into the side more towards the end of the season, including a starring role when Bayern clinched their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title in Wolfsburg.

"The coach wanted to send a message to the young players and the fans," Coman said. "It shows he is counting on me and I'm sure that things will be better next season."
