Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng vows to be back for preseason after injury

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has said he will be back to begin preparations for next season after limping off in the weekend game against Freiburg.

Germany international Boateng lasted only 10 minutes before having to be helped from the pitch by club doctor Volker Braun and physio Gerry Hoffmann after hurting his thigh in a challenge with Florian Niederlechner.

Boateng, 28, has suffered with injuries this season, starting only 10 games as Bayern won a fifth successive Bundesliga title.

But he told kicker: "I'm just fine. I'll be fit to begin preparations for the start of next season."

Bayern have signed Germany international defender Niklas Sule from Hoffenheim, leading to reports that Boateng wanted assurances about his future.

However, president Uli Hoeness dismissed claims that the 2014 World Cup-winner could leave, saying: "Boateng is staying. He has a contract."

Meanwhile, Hoeness told Bayerische Rundfunk that Bayern would look to strengthen for next season by buying "the very best."

But he added: "The problem is we are operating in a market where transfer fees exist which we didn't ever think were possible."
