Bayern Munich's hopes of securing a Treble this season received a boost as winger Douglas Costa got an all clear and will not need knee surgery, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on Monday.
Costa, 26, was ruled out of Bayern's last game before the international break against Borussia Monchengladbach with what Carlo Ancelotti termed "a minor knee problem."
However, the knee injury forced the Brazil winger to pull out of the Selecao's squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay.
Having opted to stay in Munich for treatment, last week Sport1 reported Costa's knee injury was more serious than at first thought, suggesting he was struggling to be fit to face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg on April 12.
However, Bayern CEO Rummenigge rubbished those reports, telling dpa: "An operation is and was never an issue.
"According to the doctor the player is fine. He's doing so well that he will be back playing in the not so distant future."
This Saturday, Bayern host Augsburg in a Bavarian derby in Munich in the Bundesliga, though Costa is unlikely to be fit.
Rummenigge added: "I don't know if he'll make the Augsburg game, but he'll be available after."
