Joachim Low backs Bayern's Thomas Muller to rebound from goal drought

Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller is a "natural talent" with a "nose for goals," Germany national coach Joachim Low has told kicker.

Muller, 27, ended a run of 999 minutes without a goal in December against Wolfsburg -- his only strike for Bayern so far this season in 18 Bundesliga appearances. Muller also failed to find the net for Germany at Euro 2016.

But Low has backed Germany's top scorer at both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups to emerge from his current dip in form.

"Muller is a natural talent," Low said.

"He's played brilliantly since 2010. He's never had a serious injury and is always in good physical condition.

"He's a going through a tricky phase at the moment but that's nothing out of the ordinary.

"Thomas has both feet on the ground and leads such a responsible lifestyle. Muller can deal with praise or criticism, success or failure, better than almost anyone.

"It needs a little time perhaps. But he scored against Arsenal and I've never doubted him. He has a nose for goals."

Low also discussed Bayern's football under current boss Carlo Ancelotti compared to his predecessor Pep Guardiola, now coaching Manchester City.

"You can always recognise Guardiola's playing style," Low said.

"Bayern were very dominant under him. They didn't win the Champions League, but made a progress as a club. Guardiola was good for Bayern and the whole Bundesliga.

Ancelotti is a different type of coach with his Italian influence. Bayern are more compact and don't play such attacking football.

"But he knows how to win the Champions League."
