Carlo Ancelotti unhappy with Chile's treatment of Arturo Vidal

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has criticised the Chilean FA for their treatment of midfielder Arturo Vidal during the recent World Cup qualifiers.

Vidal, 29, was stretchered off injured in the final minute of Chile's goalless draw in Colombia on Nov. 13, but played against Uruguay just three few days later after playing through the pain barrier "no matter what."

"What I don't find normal is Vidal playing for Chile in the second game, although he was injured in the first game, Ancelotti said at the news conference ahead of the German champions' trip to Mainz, a game which can return Bayern top of the Bundesliga.

"I'm not happy about the situation," Ancelotti added. "Vidal is still suffering as a result of that injury. He isn't at 100 percent and is doubtful for [the game on Friday]."

Vidal hasn't started a Bundesliga game since before the international break in early November, when he was taken off with a knock in the 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti confirmed that Xabi Alonso also had "a minor problem" and his fitness, as well as Vidal, would be monitored in Thursday's training session.

Defenders Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez were both given the green light to play by Ancelotti, leaving French winger Kingsley Coman and U.S. international striker Julian Green as the only Bayern players definitely ruled out.

Ancelotti also commented on speculation that captain Philipp Lahm is on the verge of retirement as a player ahead of a move to become Bayern's new sporting director.

"Lahm is still a very important player for us and next year will be the same," the Italian said said. "He's still in good condition and I hope that I can be his trainer for the next few years.

"But in the future, I think Lahm can be a player, director of football and trainer of this club."

Asked if he will watch Saturday's Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Ancelotti said it depends on how Bayern fare on Friday.

"I don't know if I will watch it. It depends on the result on Friday," the former Real Madrid boss said. "If we don't win I will cry and I won't be able to watch it."
