Robert Lewandowski's agent cools talk of new Bayern Munich contract

One of Robert Lewandowski's agents has played down reports that his client has agreed a new five-year contract with Bayern Munich and is set to become the club's top earner alongside Thomas Muller.

Lewandowski, 28, joined Bayern on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and is currently under contract with the German champions until 2019.

Sportowe Fakty claims the Poland international has agreed to extend his deal until 2021, which will earn last season's Bundesliga top scorer an annual salary of €15 million -- the same amount earned by Muller.

However, Maik Barthel, one of Lewandowski's two agents, has dismissed the story, writing on Twitter that there is "nothing new to report" on the future of his client.

Bayern and Lewandowski's two agents, Cezary Kucharski and Barthel, have been talking about a new deal for a number of months, and in September the player said he was convinced that a solution between the two parties would be found.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge previously told Der Spiegel that he believed the club's increased Champions League revenue would help them keep hold of Lewandowski and ward off English clubs.
