Carlo Ancelotti pleased with Bayern, tolerates Douglas Costa's selfie

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti praised his side's "quality, intensity and attitude" after the German champions bounced back to winning ways following two consecutive draws in the Bundesliga with a comfortable 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

First-half goals from Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa gave Bayern their first win in five games against bogey side Gladbach and, mean that Ancelotti's men are now three points clear at the top of the table.

Chilean midfielder Vidal headed home his first league goal of the season in the 16th minute from an inch-perfect Rafinha cross, while Brazilian winger Costa also opened 2016-17 his account when, just after the half-hour mark, he fired home after a defensive lapse from Gladbach defender Oscar Wendt.

"First half especially, we put in a really good performance," said Ancelotti and his postmatch news conference. "It was our best 45 minutes of the season so far.

"We showed quality, intensity and a strong attitude. Monchengladbach played much better second half and created some difficulties for us.

"But we defended well and had good control of the game. And we didn't concede any counter attacks."

Following his goal in his first league start of the season, Costa celebrated by taking a selfie with a friend in the crowd.

Asked about his feelings about the impromptu photo, Ancelotti said: "We live in a world with social media. Of course I'd prefer if players stay focused on the game but sometimes it can happen.

"It was [Costa's] first game back from injury so I can accept this. Maybe next time he can call me and we can have our picture together!"
