Carlo Ancelotti: Bayern Munich will not change system against Gladbach

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has said he will stick with the same system at home to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday despite watching his team twice lose leads in successive Bundesliga draws.

The champions lead twice at Eintracht Frankfurt but drew 2-2, having been held 1-1 at home by Cologne in their previous league fixture.

Bayern conceded another goal on the counterattack in the Champions League in the 4-1 victory at home to PSV Eindhoven in midweek, but Ancelotti said he was happy with his backline.

"The most important word in football is balance," he told a news conference. "Sometimes we lose balance but overall, I'm happy with our defensive behaviour.

"Yes, we've conceded a few goals but we've also scored a lot. It's normal that we are exposed to the counterattack as we attack with a lot of players.

"Our goal is to play attacking football, but we have to find the right mix between attack and defence."

Gladbach -- or "a German Team" as they became known this week -- are unbeaten in four league games against the champions.

Asked whether he would adopt more defensive tactics against them, Ancelotti said: "The system will be the same. It doesn't change."

He said Arjen Robben, man of the match against Eindhoven, would be in his starting XI.

"Robben is a fantastic player and it's great to have him back [after injury]," he said. "But he's treated the same as every player and equally as important as the rest."

The coach then addressed criticism of Xabi Alonso for recent mistakes and a lack of pace in midfield.

"Yes, the truth is that he is slow," he said. "But I was also slow when I played -- being slow is not necessarily a negative thing.

"The most important thing is that the ball runs quickly through the team, and Xabi Alonso is one of the best players at distributing the ball."
