Arjen Robben wants to sign new Bayern Munich contract - father

Arjen Robben's father and agent has told kicker his son "would like to stay" at Bayern Munich after his current deal expires next summer, but that "it takes two to tango."

Robben's father Hans has said that initial talks about a new deal were likely to start in the autumn and that his son would like to remain at the club.

But referring to Bayern's role in contract negotiations, he added: "Normally it shouldn't be a problem, but it takes two to tango."

Louis van Gaal brought Robben, 32, to Bayern from Real Madrid in 2009, with the Netherlands international going on to win five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League since then.

Robben has suffered his fair share of injuries and has failed to complete more than 60 percent of Bundesliga matches in his seven seasons with the German champions. His best season in terms of steering clear of injury came in 2009-10, when he managed 1,778 out of a possible 3,060 minutes of playing time.

Asked whether the winger would consider signing for just an extra year, Robben Snr said: "I don't know. We'll get down to talks and then we'll see what the situation is."

Robben aggravated a groin problem in Bayern's opening preseason friendly in Lippstadt in July after returning to training early in his comeback bid.

His last Bundesliga start came in the goalless draw in March against Borussia Dortmund, and he's only just returned to first-team action after an absence of 200 days, scoring within seven minutes of his introduction as a substitute against Hertha Berlin last Wednesday.

Robben described the reception from the Bayern fans on his comeback as a "goosebumps" moment after scoring his 78th Bundesliga goal in 143 appearances -- a prolific record of 0.55 goals per game that compares favourably with the likes of Dortmund's Marco Reus (85 goals in 205 games, 0.41 goals on average) and teammate Thomas Muller (91 in 232, 0.39 on average).

On Wednesday, Robben replaced Muller just after the hour mark but could not prevent Bayern slipping to their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
