Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller back in training after suffering bug

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has returned to training ahead of the clash with second-placed Hertha Berlin on Wednesday.

Muller, 27, missed the 3-1 home win over Ingolstadt at the weekend with a stomach bug but was able to resume training on Monday.

However, defender Mats Hummels remained absent while Philipp Lahm and David Alaba trained individually.

Skipper Lahm and Alaba have both been suffering from the same bug, while Hummels has a heavy cold.

Meanwhile, Jerome Boateng made his comeback from injury with a seven-minute cameo against Ingolstadt and is eyeing a place in the starting lineup against his former club Hertha.

The Berlin-born defender, 28, replaced the injured Douglas Costa as a substitute on 83 minutes, making his first appearance since tearing a muscle in Germany's Euro 2016 semifinal defeat to France.

Boateng, Germany's Footballer of the Year, told the club's TV channel: "I will have to see how training pans out in the next few days. Maybe I could start, but I doubt whether I can manage 90 minutes yet."

Arjen Robben also played a full part in training on Monday.

The 32-year-old has not played since aggravating a groin problem in Bayern's opening preseason friendly in Lippstadt but is in line to return on Wednesday.
