Former Bayern Munich defender Dante clarifies Pep Guardiola comments

Dante moved to Ligue 1 this summer.

Former Bayern Munich defender Dante has moved to clarify comments about his old boss Pep Guardiola, saying they had come out in a "misguided" way.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Dante had said players "don't know where they stand" under the Catalan, now in charge at Manchester City.

Dante, 32, signed for Bayern from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 and became an integral part of Jupp Heynckes' treble-winning side.

However, despite Guardiola wishing that "he had a 1,000 Dantes" last year, the Brazilian defender joined Wolfsburg last summer.

The defender moved to Nice in the current window, but talking about Guardiola he was reported as saying: "He doesn't speak to you -- as a player you don't know where you stand.

"There's trainers who are world-class tactically, but less brilliant as human beings -- like Guardiola."

However, he later wrote on Twitter: "I gave an interview to the German magazine Sport Bild and apparently what I said just came out in a misguided way.

"What I said is that Pep as a tactical coach is the best but he spoke less than the other coaches I had, but each has his way.

"I respect Pep -- he's a coach who helped me a lot in football. He was a guy who helped me a lot and I would never speak against him."
