Robert Lewandowski hopes to improve under Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti

Robert Lewandowski believes he can get even better in Bayern Munich's new system, telling Bild the players "don't have to go pressing in attack all the time" under Carlo Ancelotti.

Lewandowski, 28, last season became the first foreign player to hit 30 or more goals in one Bundesliga campaign as he picked up his second Torjagerkanone, the prize for the league's top scorer, in six seasons in Germany's top flight.

Following two seasons under the innovative Pep Guardiola, Lewandowski goes into his first season under Ancelotti. The former Borussia Dortmund star says the tactical adjustments, including abandoning possession to facilitate counter-attacks as well as his position in central attack, will have a positive influence on him.

"I have also largely played up front under Pep, but there are minor differences between the ideas," Lewandowski said. "Sometimes we sit deeper, and don't have to go pressing in attack all the time."

Lewandowski had a mediocre Euro 2016 with Poland but started off the domestic season with a hat trick in Bayern's 5-0 cup win at fourth-division side Carl Zeiss Jena on Friday.

The attacker -- who has scored a total of 171 goals in 282 competitive matches, including 32 in 52 Champions League games for Dortmund and Bayern -- says the German champions will continue to develop under Ancelotti.

He said: "We do things better in every match. We want to go into one direction with Carlo, and follow his ideas."
