Kingsley Coman suffers ankle injury in Bayern Munich training

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has been ruled out until further notice with an ankle injury.

Coman, 20, was stretchered off the pitch during Bayern's public training session on Wednesday after a one-on-one situation with Javi Martinez.

The Bayern winger was examined on site by team doctor Volker Braun at Munich's training facilities on Sabener Strasse, and in the early afternoon the Bundesliga champions announced that the France international is set for a spell on the sidelines with capsular ligament damage to his ankle.

"Coman will be sidelined for an indefinite period and is definitely out of the early matches of the new season," a brief statement confirming the injury on Bayern's official website read.

Speaking before the club's announcement, Bayern captain Philipp Lahm had told reporters: "He was down on the ground and obviously in pain. That's never a good sign.

"I don't know whether he received a knock or landed badly. In any case, it did not sound that nice."

In his first season at Bayern, Coman made a total of 35 appearances for the club, scoring six and setting up a further 12 goals.

Coman has entered the second year of his two-year loan from Juventus, and Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has indicated that the club want to make his transfer permanent in the near future.
