Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti relished first game at Allianz Arena

Carlo Ancelotti has said his inaugural home match in charge of Bayern Munich felt like his "first day at school."

Ancelotti, who has replaced Pep Guardiola at Bayern, oversaw his first game as head coach in a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Erdal Oztuk scored the only goal of the game as the Bundesliga giants defeated their former boss Guardiola, who is now in charge at City.

Around 68,000 fans were in attendance at the Allianz Arena, and Ancelotti told his news conference that he was thrilled to be coaching the German champions in their home stadium for the first time.

"I was excited as if it had been my first day at school," Ancelotti said, and recalled his last trip to the stadium when Real Madrid beat Bayern 4-0 in the 2014 Champions League semifinal.

"I know the stadium and the fans. It was a fantastic atmosphere, and I believe we can achieve a lot together."

Despite being without a number of key players who are still on holiday following Euro 2016, Ancelotti was satisfied with the match.

He said: "Considering that it's the early stage of pre-season we played quite well. We showed that we're in good condition, but we still have time to improve."
