Bayern Munich appoint Paul Clement as Carlo Ancelotti's assistant

Bayern Munich have confirmed the appointment of Paul Clement as one of Carlo Ancelotti's assistants for the upcoming season.

Clement, 44, will reunite with Ancelotti under whom he already worked with at Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

After the Italian manager left Madrid in 2015, Clement went on to manage Championship club Derby County but he was eventually sacked in Feb. 2016.

In March, he then joined the England U21 set-up working with boss Gareth Southgate as an assistant.

Clement has since left his role in his homeland and will now share duties with long-standing assistant coach Hermann Gerland, according to Bayern's official website.

His appointment isn't the only change on Bavarian's bench for the upcoming season, with Ancelotti's son Davide also being named a member of the fitness staff, with Giovanni Mauri also reuniting with the new Bayern boss as the head of the fitness department.

The Bundesliga club kick off their preseason on July 16 when they take on Lippstadt.
