Bayern Munich to open China office in Shanghai

Bayern Munich have announced the opening of their second international office in Shangai on Sept. 1, the club confirmed in a statement on their official website.

The German club have appointed 34-year-old Rouven Kasper as the local Managing Director of the new subsidiary in China's financial hub..

Bayern director Jorg Wacker said he was confident the experienced marketing man and his new team "will help FC Bayern make significant progress in its internationalisation in Asia thanks to their great commitment and expert knowledge."

Kasper added the office would concentrate on "building up a network in China, supporting FC Bayern to the best possible extent in achieving the club's targets for this market" and drive forward "the club's internationalisation in Asia."

The move comes after Bayern Munich toured China last summer.

Bayern became the first European club with a U.S.-based bureau in 2014, when they opened their New York office. La Liga giants Barcelona have since also launched a New York-based office.

Rivals Borussia Dortmund set up a regional office in Singapore in late 2014, and are the only other Bundesliga club with an office outside of Germany.
