Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge extends deal until 2019

Bayern Munich have announced that CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has extended his contract until 2019.

Rummenigge has been working for Bayern since 1991, first as a vice-president and from 2002 onwards as the club's CEO, while he played for the side from 1974 to 1984.

Bayern announced the extension of the former Germany international's contract on Friday, with president and chairman of the supervisory board Karl Hopfner hailing the news.

"This is a good day for FC Bayern," Hopfner said on the club's official website. "This continuity is a substantial reason why FC Bayern are one of the best European clubs with regard to sport as well as finances.

"We, the FC Bayern Munich AG supervisory board, are delighted to continue the successful cooperation with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge."

Rummenigge added: "FC Bayern are in a very good situation in terms of sport as well as finances and have established themselves at the top of European football. We'll all carry on our work to ensure we continue to be successful at this level. FC Bayern are a wonderful club."
