Jerome Boateng could play for Bayern vs. Monchengladbach - Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola hopes he can give Jerome Boateng a run-out in their Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Although Boateng, 27, was a member of Bayern's travelling party which headed to Madrid this week, the centre-back did not make the squad.

The defender is still waiting for his second appearance for the Bavarians in 2016 after he sustained a groin-injury in the 2-1 win at Hamburg in January.

On Saturday, Bayern can win a fourth consecutive Bundesliga title if they beat Monchengladbach or Borussia Dortmund fail to pick up points in their home match against out-of-form Wolfsburg.

With the Gladbach match placed in-between the two Champions League semifinal legs against Atletico Madrid, Guardiola is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI this weekend.

Boateng is not, however, likely to be an option for the first XI, the Catalan coach said in a postmatch interview with ZDF following their 1-0 defeat at Atletico.

Asked whether the Germany international could be an option for the second leg against the Liga side next Tuesday, he replied: "I don't know. He was injured for three, four months.

"I hope that he can play a few minutes against Gladbach. But he's been injured for a long time, and only trained with the squad four or five times."

Regardless of who will be on the pitch, Guardiola hopes to secure the Bundesliga title at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern have a seven-point lead over Dortmund with three matches left to be played this term.

Guardiola added: "We need one more win. I am convinced that Dortmund will win all their outstanding matches."
