Thomas Muller: Bayern Munich winning every three days is an 'incredible' feat

Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller praised his side's resiliency in the face of multiple competitions after the striker scored twice in the 2-0 win over Werder Bremen in the DFB Pokal semifinals on Tuesday.

In addition to the cup run, Bayern also enjoy a seven-point lead in the Bundesliga and are through to the Champions League semifinals.

They have won nine straight games in all competitions, with their last six victories coming in a span of just 18 days.

Muller said Bayern's consistency has been "incredible," though he acknowledged they were not at their best against Bremen.

"We're happy, but we've turned in better displays than today. It was hard work. We offered Werder too much after bad passes. We made it difficult for ourselves. It was tough today," he said.

"There were no frenetic cheers, but the only thing that counts for sports people is that we're in the final.

"What we're turning in every three days is incredible."

Manager Pep Guardiola said he never underestimated Bremen after their run of impressive Pokal results this campaign.

"I'm pleased of course. It's going to be a great final in Berlin," Guardiola said. "Bremen beat Gladbach and Leverkusen in the cup. We knew we'd be up against courageous opponents.

"We wanted to play more aggressively with our five forwards, but we had enough chances to score more goals."

Muller's second goal game after a controversial penalty decision as Bremen's Janek Sternberg slid past Arturo Vidal and the referee pointed to the spot.

Guardiola said simply that "the penalty shouldn't have been given," while Bremen manager Viktor Skripnik would not blame the decision for the final result.

"Bayern won deservedly. We tried to achieve the impossible," Skripnik said. "We had a few good moves.

"I don't blame the referee. But it's a pity for my lads who turned in a very good display. We can be proud of ourselves."

The game was also a return to the Allianz Arena for former Bayern forward Claudio Pizarro.

"We gave everything to make it to the final," Pizarro said. "Bayern were better and won deservedly. Unfortunately it didn't work. But it was nice to be here again."
