Arjen Robben: Bayern lost focus after going two goals up at Juventus

Arjen Robben said Bayern Munich lost focus after going two goals up at Juventus, only to settle for a 2-2 draw in their Champions League last-16 first leg.

The Dutchman was instrumental in giving Bayern a 2-0 lead, starting the play that led to their opener and then using a brilliant piece of individual skill to add a second goal 10 minutes after the break.

But Juventus came to life at that point and levelled the score with goals from Paulo Dybala and Stefano Sturaro, leaving Robben upset at the result.

"We all are a bit disappointed," Robben said. "When you are two goals up you have to finish off the match.

"We should have played calmer. Even after a second goal you must stay focused."

Bayern manager Pep Guardiola gave credit to Juventus, who reached the final last season only to lose 3-1 to Barcelona.

"Overall it was a great display -- Juve were in the last Champions League final, they have won four straight Serie A titles, they have just won [13] games in a row," he said.

"Last year they did better than us too, so we weren't up against some pub team. It's a shame and this was the result, but I'm still very satisfied."

The result leaves Bayern with a slim advantage heading into the second leg thanks to their two away goals, but Guardiola said he expected both teams to try to attack when the tie resumes in Munich.

"I expect Juve to be even more aggressive in Munich," he said. "But I'm very happy -- this is maybe the happiest evening of my career.

"The return will be different. They will come to win or to get a 3-3. We will try to score. I don't expect us to protect this result.

"We will only defend when we are faced with their incredible attack. We're up against a side with many great players, starting with [goalkeeper Gigi] Buffon and going all the way through. It's going to be a brilliant second leg."
