David Luiz praises Bayern Munich as 'a fantastic team with a fantastic coach'

David Luiz has praised runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich as "a fantastic team with a fantastic coach."

Luiz, whose PSG team are 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, said he loved watching Bayern but it was "better not to play them."

The Brazil international said: "They are just a fantastic team with fantastic coach.

"Pep [Guardiola] is so intelligent. He always surprises with new ideas, and success proves him right.

"I really enjoy watching Bayern games, but it's better not to play against them."

Luiz said his international teammate Douglas Costa had benefited from working with Guardiola at Bayern.

"He's fortunate enough to learn from one of the best football coaches," he said.

"We've discussed this at the national team. He raves about Bayern and Pep, and he told me that because of Pep he now understands and sees football in a totally different manner."

On Wednesday, PSG can secure their passage into the Champions League knockout stages with victory at Malmo.

Last season, their hopes of reaching the final in Berlin were ended by a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Barcelona in the quarterfinals, and Luiz said the path to this year's final would "lead past Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern."
