Pep Guardiola happy as Bayern Munich win group with game to spare

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola said he was happy his side won their Champions League group with a game to spare after Tuesday's 4-0 victory over Olympiakos.

Bayern have 12 points after winning four of their five group-stage games and can not be caught in Group F, rendering meaningless the Dec. 9 trip to Dinamo Zagreb.

"I'm very pleased about qualifying. Huge credit to all my players," Guardiola said. "We wanted to win the group and we've finished first.

"We've scored plenty of goals at home again so I'm satisfied. We weren't perfect in possession, but we were very good without the ball.

"The players have great character. The Champions League is now done and dusted until February."

Guardiola said he was hoping to pile on the goals when he set his attack-heavy lineup.

"My experience told me that here in Munich we needed to play with many attackers to score a lot of goals," he said. "That is a risk, but we normally create several chances.

"As long as we are able to control the game, we can play with five attacking players like we did tonight."

The manager reserved praise for defender Rafinha, who signed a contract extension a day earlier.

"Rafinha is a special player for me," Guardiola said. "Whenever he is playing he gives everything. He loves playing football. It is not a job for him, he is enjoying every single minute.

"He played well today. It is a pleasure to have him here in Munich."

Olympiakos coach Marco Silva said he did not expect a good result against the German giants.

"The result was not unexpected, especially against a very difficult team who -- not just this season but for the last two years -- have been the best in the world," he said.

"After 52 minutes we had a good chance when Ideye Brown broke through on goal. If he isn't brought down by Holger Badstuber, he scores and we have a chance to get back in the game. We certainly needed to do better with our chances.

"What happened, happened. Most teams who come here to Munich lose."

The Greek side can still advance if they avoid defeat at home against Arsenal in the final group matchday.

"We are thinking about Arsenal now," Silva said. "We will try to prepare as well as possible. We are going to play at home -- that could be a small yet important advantage. We will give our best to qualify."
