Arjen Robben frustrated after being ruled out for the rest of the season

Arjen Robben has cursed his bad luck following the season-ending muscle injury he sustained in the DFB Pokal semifinal on Tuesday.

Only just returning from an abdominal muscle injury suffered in late March, he came off the bench in the 68th minute against Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.

Yet, five touches of the ball and 16 minutes later, Robben had to be substituted himself and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches. On Wednesday, Bayern Munich announced that Robben will not feature for the German champions again this season.

"Arjen Robben suffered a torn calf muscle in his left leg during the DFB Cup semifinal against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. That means the Dutchman is ruled out for the rest of the season having just made his comeback against Dortmund after recovering from a stomach muscle injury," Bayern said on their official website.

Robben, who netted 17 goals in 21 league appearances this season, told kicker: "It's just madness. I am struggling for words for this bad luck,"

Meanwhile, defender Jerome Boateng has spoken of his disappointment following the defeat to Dortmund, which ended all hopes of winning the Treble of German Cup, Bundesliga and Champions League.

"It's a huge shame because the chance to win it was tremendous," the 26-year-old told kicker.
