Alonso: We'll need to be at our best (2:00)

They may have won the DFB Pokal a record 17 times, but Bayern Munich still have plenty of motivation for this season's competition. (2:00)

Xabi Alonso is determined to win another domestic cup by lifting the DFB Pokal with Bayern Munich this season.

On Wednesday, Bayern face a difficult test in their DFB Pokal quarterfinal at Bayer Leverkusen.

The home side have not conceded a goal in five consecutive games at the Bay-Arena since losing 5-4 to Wolfsburg in mid-February, and have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight matches, with only Atletico Madrid's Mario Suarez managing to put the ball past goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Bayern, meanwhile, have lost pace in attack following the injuries to Arjen Robben, David Alaba and Franck Ribery, with the trio unavailable for selection on Wednesday.

Despite the current injury crisis, midfielder Alonso, 33, has set his sights on lifting the DFB Pokal.

The Spaniard has already won the FA Cup in England -- with Liverpool in 2006 -- and the Copa del Rey twice in Spain with Real Madrid.

"I want to win it here too," he told reporters on Monday. "We still have two steps to go. It's make-or-break."

Also speaking to reporters in Munich, Thomas Muller said Bayern will need "balls" to come out on top at Leverkusen, who "are in good shape."

At the weekend in the 1-0 victory at Dortmund, Bayern played an unusual tactic when handing BVB possession and sitting deep to wait for the counter.

Despite only having two clear-cut chances, the Bundesliga champions-elect took home all three points.

"It certainly won't hurt on Wednesday if we show the same utter determination to win as we did in Dortmund," Muller said.

"It's a knockout match and there's such a lot at stake so we won't throw caution to the wind, we'll defend well as a team. But parking the bus on the edge of our own penalty area isn't our new tactical plan."
