Bayern aiming to win Champions League every year - Rummenigge

Bayern Munich want to continue their dominance in the Bundesliga and win the Champions League on a more regular basis, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Bild.

Bayern have already opened up a seven-point gap after 12 matches in the German top flight this season, and are on course to win their third consecutive title. The Bavarians have also qualified for the round of 16 in both the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal despite suffering injuries to several key players.

However, the 2013 European champions are keen to add more trophies over the coming years and are planning to invest further in both the squad and their stadium to ensure that happens.

"We have now reached the top. But we shall not be satisfied with it," Rummenigge said. "I want to win the Champions League again. Barcelona have always been my role model, because they've won it several times within a short time frame. I dream of shortening the cycles between our Champions League triumphs."

Bayern had to wait 25 years before lifting another European Cup in 2001, and had to wait another 12 years to repeat that feat in 2013.

"We want to have the theoretical chance of winning the Champions League every year," Rummenigge added.

Last week, it was announced that the Bundesliga champions paid off all their debts for the Allianz Arena 16 years ahead of schedule.

"In the future, we'll have a surplus which we can invest in two things. We will continue to invest in the quality of our stadium, for instance by increasing the capacity," Rummenigge said. "And of course also into the quality of our squad. We must nourish and cherish it every year."

Rummenigge added that Bayern are currently the only club in Europe to operate with a profit and be successful at the same time.

On Friday, they are set to announce "excellent financial results" at their annual general meeting.

"It's no secret that our turnover for 2013-14 passed the magical half-a-billion-Euro mark. We've also sustainably increased our profit," Rummenigge was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

According to reports, Bayern are also set to announce that they are now the biggest club in the world with 250,000 members. In 2013, they had 217,000 members and still trailed Benfica, who, in February 2014, had 224,000 members.
