Franck Ribery: Bayern Munich 'family' will help out injured Philipp Lahm

The Bayern Munich "family" will support Philipp Lahm as he recovers from his injury, according to Franck Ribery.

Lahm suffered his first major injury since 2006 on Tuesday after fracturing his right ankle during Bayern training.

The former Germany international is now set for surgery and a three-month spell on the sidelines, but Ribery is hoping his teammate makes a speedy recovery.

"It hurt me to see him lying on the pitch. I am just sad for him," Ribery told Bild. "Every player and every Bayern employee feels sorry for him. We have lost a very important player. He has always played well, has always been in top shape, and has always been a good captain."

Lahm's injury is the latest in a long line for Bayern this season. Ribery and Arjen Robben have both missed games this term, while Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara, and Bastian Schweinsteiger have not played a single Bundesliga match in the 2014-15 campaign. Holger Badstuber and David Alaba, meanwhile, will also both not be returning to action before 2015, and goalkeepers Pepe Reina and Tom Starke are currently working on their comebacks.

"I have never experienced such a year -- so much bad luck," Ribery said, before adding that Lahm's absence will be felt more than that of the others. "He's got an unbelievable presence on the pitch, but also in the dressing room. And we will miss that. We lose a very important player.

"He needs to stay calm now, keep his chin up somehow, even if that might not be easy. He needs support from his family, and from us. We are also his family and will help him where we can. We are there for Philipp."
