Thiago Alcantara joins Bayern Munich teammates in training

Thiago Alcantara returned to team training with Bayern Munich on Tuesday as he continues his comeback from a knee injury.

Bayern announced on their official website that Thiago, 23, had joined his teammates for the final training session ahead of the match with Manchester City on Wednesday.

The former Barcelona midfielder tore ligaments in his right knee in late March and has since undergone two operations, having suffered a setback after returning to the squad in May.

However, Thiago, who missed out on the World Cup with the injury, took part in the team warm-up on Tuesday and then continued his individual training programme, with the club reporting that he is "working intensively on his comeback."

Bayern Munich sporting executive Matthias Sammer said earlier this month that the situation regarding Thiago's fitness was "very regrettable" and added: "We can't respectably say how long this will take. We can't give an exact prognosis."
