Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says it was the result that mattered after his side started the defence of their Bundesliga title with a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Friday night.
The Bavarians, with four of Germany's World Cup winners in their starting XI, needed a bit of luck to beat the Wolves at the Allianz Arena, despite taking a 2-0 lead thanks to Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben before Ivica Olic pulled one back.
Guardiola, who had predicted a difficult first few months of the season for his side, was glad to accept the points.
"For any coach in the world, winning is the most important thing,'' he said. "That does not only apply when you are at Bayern Munich.
"After we went 2-0 up, we no longer controlled the game and Wolfsburg were better than us then. We had problems, and we only had 65-70 minutes in our legs, but let's not forget we were up against one of the best teams in the league. We just need time.''
Had Junior Malanda not turned the ball wide from just a yard in front of an open goal, the Wolves may well have gone home with something, and given the rest of the Bundesliga some encouragement.
"We played really well after we pulled a goal back and that was really spectacular from us,'' said their coach Dieter Hecking. "In the end, though, we just lacked the killer instinct.''
