Robert Lewandowski marked his Bayern Munich debut with a goal, although it was not enough to prevent a disappointing 1-1 draw with Duisburg in Monday night's preseason friendly.

The Poland international, who arrived on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund this summer, needed just over an hour to open his account for Pep Guardiola's side.

Fabian Schellhardt levelled soon after and the second-division club held on for a draw in front of almost 25,000 spectators, most of whom had come to see last season's Bundesliga top marksman in action.

Although he was able to find the net in his first outing for Die Roten, the 25-year-old said his best is yet to come for him and his new club.

"We've only been training for two weeks so things have still got to improve," he told Sport1 television.

Defender Holger Badstuber agreed after making his second appearance after an almost two-year injury absence. "It's an amazing feeling and I'm enjoying every minute," he said. "Games like this really bring me on. We're still lacking a bit, but this is only preseason."#INSERT type:inline END#

Bayern are not lacking in the personnel department, though, according to their director of sport Matthias Sammer. Despite selling Toni Kroos to Real Madrid for 30 million euros, Sammer says they are not about to invest that money in new players -- especially not in Fiorentina's coveted Juan Cuadrado.

"That's absolute rubbish," he told Sport1. "If all of the speculation were to be true, we'd have a 57-man squad right now."

Meanwhile, leading figures at a number of Bundesliga clubs have dismissed Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge's claims that they are seeking to cause problems for the champions by refusing their request to delay the start of the 2014-15 season.
