Crystal Palace's Joe Ledley out of FA Cup final, major doubt for Euro 2016

Joe Ledley is to miss Crystal Palace's FA Cup final against Manchester United later this month and is a major doubt for Wales' Euro 2016 campaign after fracturing a fibula.

Ledley, 29, suffered what was a suspected Achilles injury in Saturday's 2-1 Premier League defeat of Stoke City but Palace confirmed on Wednesday that he has a more serious problem.

Palace have confirmed Ledley will be "continually assessed over the next few weeks" in the hope of a swift recovery, but he will miss the Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley on May 21.

The club said in a short statement on their official website: "The club can confirm that midfielder Joe Ledley sustained a leg injury in the game against Stoke City on Saturday, which saw him suffer a fracture of the fibula.

"He will be continually assessed over the next few weeks by the club's medical staff."

However, Wales are yet to rule the midfielder out of the running for a place in their squad for next month's European Championship finals in France.

A Football Association of Wales spokesperson told BBC Sport: "As far as we are concerned he still has a chance of playing in the Euros. Obviously our cut-off point is 31 May [UEFA's deadline for final 23-man squads]."

Chris Coleman's side have a friendly against fellow Euro 2016 qualifiers Sweden on June 5, and kick off their Group B campaign against Slovakia six days later in Bordeaux.
