Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp: No excuses for defeat at Swansea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that his side deserved to lose against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Klopp made eight changes to the side which lost 1-0 to Villarreal in their Europa League semifinal first leg on Thursday.

And the Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat to Swansea as Andre Ayew scored a brace and Jack Cork also struck, while Christian Benteke netted a consolation against the now-safe Swans.

"I think the only real chance for us was at 2-1. First half we lost a lot of easy balls," Klopp said on BT Sport.

"Everything would sound like an excuse but there was no excuse. We could have played much better with this lineup so we have to accept this defeat.

"I'm not thinking about Thursday night now, we have five days to prepare for this game then we will see what happens."

The future of Swansea head coach Francesco Guidolin has come into question in recent weeks but the Italian remained coy over his plans.

"I said before, now is not the time to say other things," he said.

"I am happy because of this experience for me in the Premier League. When I arrived the situation was difficult and now we have 43 points and this is an important experience for me and my career, so thank you to my players.

"I hope I can stay [in the Premier League], now I only think about this match, tomorrow is another day."
