Carlo Ancelotti eyes return to 'ideal' Premier League management

Carlo Ancelotti has said he wants to return to the Premier League after leaving Real Madrid in the summer.

Former Chelsea coach Ancelotti was linked with the Liverpool job before Jurgen Klopp's appointment last week.

The 56-year-old, whose Madrid contract was terminated at the end of last season, told Il Corriere dello Sport that he felt ready to make a return to football after taking a break and wanted to do so in England.

"My holidays will last at least until the end of the year and then I'm going to get back into coaching," he said.

"If I get a call, I'll talk, evaluate and decide. Unless something strange happens, I'll be ready to get back in the saddle in January.

"I'd like to return to the Premier League. It's the ideal place for the way football is played. You have to work hard, but the pressures are right.

"Before I retire, I'd like to coach in England again. I'm going to have to think about retiring soon -- let's say in five to six years."

Ancelotti turned down a return to his former club AC Milan in the summer, saying he had already made up his mind to take a break.

"Let's say there were negotiations and there were a lot of aspects I had doubts about.

"I just wanted to rest for a bit, so I preferred not to accept."

Ancelotti said he believed Manchester City would win the Premier League "because they're the best team" and said that Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich had "already wrapped up the Bundesliga and Ligue 1."

He said Barcelona or his old club Real would win both the Champions League and La Liga.

And looking at the situation in his native Italy, he added: "Fiorentina are doing really well, and they've also surprised the big clubs. Maybe they will win the league, or Napoli or Roma, or Juve could come back to win it."
