Eden Hazard: I'll never be a true scorer like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo

Chelsea star Eden Hazard believes he does not have the right mentality to match the goalscoring achievements of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard, 24, capped an impressive 2014-15 season with the Premier League champions by collecting the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year award to go with his PFA Player of the Year prize.

The Belgium international scored 19 goals for Chelsea last season to earn comparisons with Barcelona star Messi and Ballon d'Or holder Ronaldo, who scored 57 and 61 goals respectively last term.

Messi beat Ronaldo to the UEFA 2014-15 Best Player in Europe award in August with Hazard shortlisted in the top 10, but the Chelsea forward says he needs to improve before being considered in their league.

"I often ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo and score 50 or 60 goals in a season," he told Sport/Foot Magazine.

"I try of course but I realise that I will never be a true scorer. It's not in me. It is mainly mental.

"At 2-0, not thinking that is enough for example. Sometimes I still think after a goal, 'that's enough.'

"I'm not in search of records like some other players -- if I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy.

"I'm at a peak of my career but I want to become even better every day. I'm not there yet."

Hazard has struggled for form this season and is yet to score in four games with Chelsea sitting 13th in the table.
