Liverpool outclass Thai All Stars XI in preseason friendly

Liverpool brushed aside the challenge of the Thai All Stars with a 4-0 victory in rain-soaked Bangkok.

Lazar Markovic, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi were all on target as Brendan Rodgers' men demonstrated a ruthless approach in the preseason friendly.

Liverpool named first- and second-half elevens, giving debuts to new signings Adam Bogdan and Danny Ings in the first half and James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne in the second.

Among other friendlies involving Premier League sides on Tuesday, Norwich City cruised to a 10-win over seventh-tier Hitchin Town.

The lead was only two at half-time thanks to Cameron Jerome's brace, but the game got out of hand after the break.

Tony Andreu recorded a hat trick, Gary O'Neilh scored twice, and Gary Hooper, Wes Hoolahan and Steven Whittaker also found the net.

Bournemouth beat the Philadelphia Union of MLS 4-1, with Callum Wilson and Joshua King scoring first-half goals. Richie Marquez scored off a cross from Sheanon Williams for the Union's only goal of the match. Bournemouth won promotion to the Premier League for the 2015-16 season.

Newcastle lost 2-1 to Liga MX club Atlas at Miller Park, the home of Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Brewers. Gonzalo Bergessio scored twice for Atlas in the first half and Moussa Sissoko scored in first-half injury time for the Magpies.Newcastle open their Premier League campaign at home against Southampton on Aug. 9.

Sunderland lost to the Sacramento Republic 1-0 thanks to a second half goal from Cameron Iwasa. The 22-year-old, who had only been substituted on moments earlier, picked up possession just outside the penalty area and slipped a left-footed shot into the bottom corner beyond past Black Cats keeper Vito Mannone.

Sunderland's next friendly is on Friday against Mexican club Pachuca.

Also on Tuesday, Monaco defeated relegated side Queens Park Rangers 1-0 on Ivan Cavaleiro's 17th-minute goal.

Newly named captain Nedum Onuoha played the full 90 minutes for QPR.
