New signings Cleverley, Deulofeu in Everton's Barclays Asia Trophy squad

Summer signings Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu have been named in Everton's 24-man team for the Barclays Asia Trophy on July 15 and 18 at the 55,000-capacity Singapore National Stadium at the Sports Hub.

Cleverley moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer from Manchester United this summer after spending last season on loan at Aston Villa, while Deulofeu signed from Barcelona for his second stint at the club having spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Merseyside.

However, Leighton Baines will miss the trip as he recovers from ankle surgery.

The England left-back, 30, had an operation in May, which forced him to miss England's 3-2 Euro 2016 qualifying win in Slovenia on June 14, and is not yet ready to be risked.

Midfielder Darron Gibson will also miss the trip as he recovers from a broken bone in his foot, while Bryan Oviedo will be absent as he has a broken toe.

Roberto Martinez's side will play Stoke City in the opening match on July 15. Arsenal and Singapore Selection XI -- the two other teams in the competition -- will face off on the same day.

The winners will play in the final on July 18 while the losing teams will be seen in action on the same day in the third-place playoff game.

England internationals John Stones, Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley and their Belgium counterparts Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas are in the Everton squad. So is former United States goalkeeper Tim Howard.

Martinez described the Barclays Asia Trophy as the club's "perfect" preparation for next season's Premier League campaign, which begins with a home match against Watford on Aug. 8.

"We're heading to something completely different, that I do feel is going to be perfect in trying to reach a really competitive level quicker than any other pre-season games due to the pedigree of this tournament," Martinez told the official Premier League website.

"We are going to compete for a trophy. The opportunity to get into a final and then facing opposition during it is going to be very helpful to reach a physical level before the next season. There's a real positive to face Premier League opposition when you are in a tournament of this magnitude."

Meanwhile, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud said he is eager to play in front of the club's fans in Singapore.

"It's always a pleasure and a really good experience because you can see the fans are crazy all over the world," the 28-year-old Frenchman, who missed last year's preseason trip to New York because of World Cup duty, told Arsenal's official website. "They support the team until they die and they are fantastic.

"I remember we landed in Vietnam very early in the morning. But there were 2,000 people who were waiting for us and cheering us on. It was a great feeling and it makes you want to produce even better performances when you get onto the pitch," said Giroud, who missed last year's preseason tour to New York as he was on World Cup duty.

Arsenal reach Singapore on Monday.
