Premier League cash boost for Palace, Tottenham; Liverpool slip - report

Tottenham and Crystal Palace were among the biggest winners on the final day of the 2014-15 Premier League season after making moves up the table that reaped handsome financial rewards, reports the Telegraph.

Liverpool's failure to collect a point from their final two fixtures against Crystal Palace and Stoke opened the door for Mauricio Pochettino's side to claim fifth spot in the Premier League after their win at Everton, with their move up from sixth seeing the north London club collect £19.8 million in prize money.

A damaging 6-1 defeat for Liverpool at Stoke saw them slip to sixth and lose out on an extra £1.3 million pounds as they collected £18.5 million, but the Anfield club still made more than Spurs overall over the course of the season as more of their games were screen live on television.

Palace's rise from relegation candidates when Alan Pardew took over as manager in January to their 10th-placed finish saw the Selhurst Park club collect £13.6 million pounds, while Newcastle also enjoyed a huge cash boost as they survived relegation with a last-day win against West Ham.

Hull were the final team to be relegated from the Premier League and they head into the Championship with £3.7 million pounds in prize money, with Newcastle receiving payment of £7.4 million pounds for their 15th place finish.

While prize money is a welcome addition to the balance sheets of Premier League clubs, all competing clubs were given a £52.5 million share of the collective television agreement that substantially boosts their revenue flow.

That income is set to increase hugely from the start of the 2016-17 season when a new television contract begins, with clubs due to receive a 70 percent increase on their current payments.
