Garry Monk regrets Swansea City's missed opportunities vs. Liverpool

Swansea manager Garry Monk felt his side paid the penalty for not taking their chances as they looked the dominant team in the first half vs. Liverpool.

Liverpool were clearly on the back foot during the first 45 as Monk's XI had several golden opportunities that were either missed or saved by Reds' goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

"During the first half we were superb and dominated the game," Monk said. "We played some fantastic stuff and I feel it's an opportunity missed.

"We had some good chances in the first half and should have scored one or two.

"Unfortunately we didn't capitalise on that, and it cost us."

Brendan Rodgers side came out stronger in the second half and were able to generate chances of their own, culminating in a somewhat lucky Jordan Henderson winner in the 68th minute.

Swansea's Jordi Amat's attempted clearance bounced right back at Henderson's feet at the top of the penalty area and somehow the Liverpool vice-captain managed to strike the ball into the back of the net.

"When you don't take your chances, a side like Liverpool will come back into the game, but I thought we played some of our best football there.

Monk added that Swans should have had at least one goal in the first half and deserved at least a point from the game, but gave credit to Liverpool for their second-half performance.

"Against these big teams in the moments where you are dominating you have to take your chances, get that goal, or two goals."
