Sources: Spurs not interested in Upton Park; talks ongoing with MK Dons

Tottenham have not considered approaching the development company charged with developing West Ham's Upton Park with a view to renting the stadium for the 2017-18 season but are talking with MK Dons over a groundshare, sources have told ESPN FC.

Spurs are looking for an alternative home for one season as they redevelop White Hart Lane, with reports saying that may be tempted to move into the ground West Ham will vacate when they make their move to London's Olympic stadium in the summer of 2016.

However, the Daily Telegraph reports that the Hammers have taken steps to block any move, while ESPN FC sources say that Spurs weren't interested anyway. Indeed, Tottenham have been fully aware of West Ham's long-term plans to dismantle parts of their stadium in a grand auction for the club's supporters following their final game at the venue, which will mean it will not be fit for football use when they depart.

Galliard Group, which has bought the site for redevelopment, will press on with their plans soon after West Ham leave, leaving Spurs to pursue other options.

ESPN FC sources have confirmed that Tottenham are instead in "ongoing talks" with League One side MK Dons over the possible rent of their 30,500-seater stadium, even though the Buckinghamshire site is some 50 miles away from their current north London home.

Plans for an expensive move to Wembley Stadium are unlikely, as is a highly controversial switch to groundshare at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, which sees stadium:mk emerge as the most attractive and cost effective option for Tottenham.
